Artist Statement:

I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. I was also born with a tremendous love for all living creatures. Or as David Attenborough would put it, “I’m intoxicated by animals.” Many African animals are in danger of extinction. Their populations are plummeting, mainly from poaching and habitat loss. This is not something I can ignore. The possibility that these incredible creatures would not be around for my children, or their children to encounter, gives me nightmares. I painted these species on large canvases and zoomed in. I wanted to give people a chance to make eye contact with these wild animals. Out of sight, out of mind isn’t an option anymore. Lock eyes and feel love for these creatures. After all, they’re the real natives. Thus my art show to help raise funds and awareness to save these animals.

A little bit about myself:  I love singing and would do it constantly all day if I was allowed. I love the smell of the earth right after it rains. I love taking pictures, and hopefully one day I’ll be able to paint interpretations of my own photographs. I think we learn important things from everything that happens and everyone you meet. I want to to look back on my life when I’m older and feel like I made a difference. Standing in a warm downpour of rain makes me feel the most alive. I’m always looking at the stars. I am an earth child; I feel connected with the wind, sun, trees, and the ocean.
